Today's musik is mostly listed to over Ituns, Spottyfi and so on.
But many of os who consider a ourselves Audiophils still holde on to something called the vinyl record. Not everyone knows what this is :)
In my opinion the turntable is still far superior to the compact disc, and many music services on the internet. I haven't heard a cd player that could bet my olde Roksan Xerxes X
Now I got a olde MircoSeiki DDX 1500 its 22 years + and its bild like a German tank.
My model has only one arm. I am using a MircoSeiki Ma 505-MK III
Not much has changed over the last 20-25 years regarding arm design, and this combo can compete with the best the market has to offer today.
If i compere the DDX1500 to my old Roksan Xerxes 10 the DDX 1500 i far superior to the Xerxes in mechanical terms. It can be that the Xerxes is a little more musical, but that musically is not natural, and the Xerxes can many times source bright i the opper levels, I don't know why this is. My old Roksan combo did include The Tabriz Zi tone arm with the Corus black pick-up and later on i used a Origin Live Conquer Mk3 that arm was a beast. It was heavy 850 g thats alot for a tone arm. But i sounded good, the background of the music was totally black.. and i mean Black. But still it sounded a lille bright.
The Xerxes combo outperform may high-end cd players.
1. Mcintosh Mcd 201 Mcd 301
2. Pathos Endorphin
3.Talk Thunder 3.1B
Now to the DDX 1500
It's a direct driven turntable which is optimal in many aspects. I can stand on the platter and the turn the turntable on. And then it will spin me rund with no problems at all.
The sound is a little more softer and sweet than the Xerxes, but still enjoying and the music just flows natural. The pick up that i'm using is the Dynavector 10x5 ( the little red devil )
